How to Keep Your Life and To-Do List Organized
Keeping your life organized can be an uphill battle, but there are ways to cut down on how steep your hill is.
When looking at your to-do lists it may be overwhelming, I know I have many of them and they’re usually on many different notepads, surfaces around my house, and especially on my phone. So trying to keep track of what I’ve done and what I still have to do can become problematic, very quickly. This however is where organizing my lists comes in handy.
About once a week I’ll grab all my lists and sit down to rewrite them all down on a single list, usually this will be on my calendar that I keep on my desk, but it should be wherever you’ll see it and access it easiest. You’ll want to organize the list itself. Write things down based on importance of getting them done, important tasks on top and things that can wait till tomorrow towards the bottom. As always when you get something done you want to get it off your list, whether that means checking it off, scratching it out, erasing it , or even starting with a new sheet. Whatever works best for you!
Another way I organize myself is by keeping a planner or a calendar. This helps me to see at a glance what’s going on in my life. Right now I’ve got a large desk calendar sitting on my desk and I plan everything out: my to do lists, my work schedules, my school schedule, and pretty much everything in between goes on that calendar to help me feel more organized. Some things are color coded, but for the most part I just try to make sure that everything gets on there so that I can see it and make sure that when I’m scheduling things that I don’t have any conflicts and that I still have time to get things done.
It may seem too simple, but these two tips will help keep you more organized and help you to feel like you’ve got a better grasp on the craziness we call life.
Kensington wishes you luck organizing your life and to-do lists!
